Studying abroad
The University of Pavia and the Department of Political and Social Sciences offer numerous opportunities for enrolled students to study abroad.
Students who decide to write their degree thesis in economics or statistics may apply for the Giovanni Manera scholarships. These scholarships enable students to spend a period of at least three months abroad carrying out research for their degree thesis at a foreign institution, under the supervision of a lecturer from the Department and a member of staff at the host institution.
In addition to these opportunities, the standard Erasmus grants enable numerous students each year to undertake study periods abroad. Of particular note are the Erasmus Study, Erasmus Traineeship and Erasmus Overseas grants, as well as other opportunities available on the International website.
Starting with the 2026/2027 intake, a Double Degree programme has been established with the University of Bamberg.
The Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Pavia has established a double degree agreement with the Otto Friedrich Universität Bamberg (Germany), open to students enrolled in the Master's Degree programme in Economic Development and International Relations starting from the 2026/2027 cohort.
The programme allows students to obtain, at the end of a coordinated two-year path, two fully recognised degrees: the Master's Degree in Economic Development and International Relations from the University of Pavia and the Master in Computational Economics and Politics from the University of Bamberg, an outstanding programme combining economics, political science, and computational methods applied to policy analysis.
Selected students spend their first year in Pavia and their second year in Bamberg, following a study plan jointly coordinated by the two universities, with full mutual recognition of exams taken.
This is a unique opportunity to strengthen your academic profile with solid international training, advanced computational analysis skills, and an academic network in Germany, while maintaining your connection to your studies in Pavia.
